"Tai Chi for Better Balance" is an evidence-based fall prevention program for older adults. Classes last approximately 45 minutes and include warm-up, core tai chi and cool-down exercises. Participants will learn an eight-form routine. The goals of the training are to improve postural stability, control of body positioning, gait initiation, movement symmetry and coordination, and lower extremity strength.
Chair-supported practices, progressing from completely seated, through sit and stand, to chair-assisted movements, are included to meet the needs and performance capabilities of individual participants.
Classes will be held through December.
Note: There will be no classes on September 3, October 8, November 12 and November 22.
